Steelwork and Rail Fixings
Steelwork fixings are purpose-made malleable iron hook-bolt adapters that can securely grip the flange of most standard steel sections.
Standard components can be assembled by the use of spanners, therefore there is no need to drill or weld on site keeping the cost of installation to a minimum. Primarily for secondary steelwork, the fixings enable beam to beam connections to be made quickly and easily on site.
The diversity of project applications that utilise Lindapter steelwork fixings is immense, a few of which are shown below.
Type A - Recessed Fixing
Type B - Flat Top Fixing
Type AF - High Friction Clamp
Type AAF - 'All-In-One' Clamp
Type CF - High Friction Clamp
Type F9 - Flange Clamp
Lindapter also offer a range of rail clips to suit many standard applications. Many of these fixings offer the most cost-effective method of fixing rails to sleepers, as well as proving easier and less time-consuming to fit than other types of clip which require welding to the sleepers.
Type BR - Rail Clip
Type LR - Adjustable Steelwork Clamp
Type HD - Rail Clamp
A range of Product Animations are also available.
Type A / B Fixings
Type A and B steelwork fixings are designed to be used with a grade 8.8 bolt.
Both products feature a tail, the length of which must be chosen to suit the thickness of the flange being gripped. Packing pieces are available to meet different flange thicknesses for both of the above fixings.
Type A - Recessed Fixing
Type A has a recessed top to hold the bolt head captive whilst the nut is tightened.
Typical Applications
Type B - Flat Top Fixing
Type B has a flat top which allows the bolt head or nut to be rotated and is suitable for use with all bolts, studs, tie rods and J bolts.
Typical Applications
Type AF - High Friction Clamp
For applications where high frictional loads are encountered and cast from SG iron, the AF high friction clamp is designed to be used with grade 8.8 or 10.9/HSFG bolts if required, and allows significantly increased torques to be applied.
With the use of the type AFW washer, the Type AF's recessed head can be filled in to act in the same way as the Type B Lindapter fixing and should also be specified when using structural bolts with the larger head size as per AS/NZS 1252.
Typical Applications
Type AAF 'All-In-One' Clamp
The Type AAF comprises a clamp body and a rocking washer which has a flat top surface equally suited to standard hexagon bolts, large hexagon bolts, Tension Control Bolts or load indicating washers.
The Type AAF is an evolution of the Type AF product design with comparable tensile and frictional capabilities. The radiused nose has serrations similar to the Type AF and can be used on parallel or sloping flanges of up to 10 degrees.
An innovative 2-part design allows the clamp to self-adjust to suit the thickness of the flange, while the low temperature SG iron provides resistance in cold environments where impact strength is important
Load and Resistance Design Strengths (LRFD)
The Load and Resistance factor (LRFD) design strengths figures are taken from the ICC-ES Evaluation Report ESR-3976 and have been converted from lbs to kN (conversion 1 lb = 0.0044 kN). The LRFD Design Strengths have been calculated in accordance with the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC437 and AC469.

Type CF - High Friction Clamp
The Type CF is a new addition to the Lindapter high friction family. Its unique patented shape is the only one of its type on the market.
The fixing's toothed nose and reaction legs combine to grip the flanges of the steelwork to hold the CF square in place. This allows a secure connection to all structural profiles without the need for drilling or welding on site, reducing man hours, safety issues, special tools and costs.
The Type CF offers a guaranteed load capacity in tension of up to 26.25kN, in friction up to 16kN and is cast from S.G iron and hot dip galvanised as standard.
Product Advantages
- Toothed nose and reaction legs combine to grip the flange of the steelwork and hold the CF square in place
- Fits a wide range of flange thicknesses
- Hot dip galvanised as standard
- High friction performance using Grade 8.8 bolts
- Can be used in combination with all Lindapter girder clamp products, including the high load AF High Friction range
- Hooks over channels, angles and beam flanges
- Lindapter markings act as a unique anti-rotation device, a washer can be used to allow the nut or bolt head to rotate.
- Self-adjusting to suit a range of flange thicknesses
- No drilling or welding
- Spans slotted holes
- Fast and cost-effective installation
- No damage to steelwork
- Features an anti-rotation device for simple installation
Type F9 - Flange Clamp
A flange clamp for connecting parallel running steel sections with flanges of the same width. The clamps can be used with bolts or alternatively with threaded rod.

Type BR - Rail Clip
A versatile clamp for steel beams or rails. The skirt prevents the clamp from rotating during installation. The BR tail spans slotted holes. Suitable for flanges up to 8°.
Type LR - Adjustable Steelwork Clamp
The Type LR is a self-adjusting clamp suitable for various flange thicknesses and slopes of up to 15°. The fixing’s large clamping range allows for a single product type to be specified for a range of applications, or where precise flange dimensions are not available.
Product Advantages
- Self-adjusting to suit a range of flange thicknesses
- No drilling or welding
- Spans slotted holes
- Fast and cost-effective installation
- No damage to steelwork
- Features an anti-rotation device for simple installation
Type HD - Rail Clamp
The Type HD rail clamps facilitate the precise alignment of rails by allowing a high degree of stepless lateral adjustability. Three variants are available.
Technical Data
Suitable for all rails with tapered flanges and crane speeds of up to 60m/min. For wheel loads above 400kN or lateral loads higher than wheel loads please contact us
